Seeking: Social Media Manager

We are seeking a motivated and creative Social Media Manager to join our team. As a Social Media Manager, you will be responsible for assisting in the development and execution of our content marketing initiatives. You will work directly alongside the Director of Circulation.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, a self-starter, and has experience with social media platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute our content marketing campaigns across various social media platforms.

  • Mainly tackle the question of how to generate a following

  • Collaborate with our board of directors and staff to curate content that aligns with the company’s messaging.

  • Research and analyze industry trends, social media trends, and competitor activity to inform content strategy.

  • Manage the company's social media accounts and engagement, including monitoring and responding to customer inquiries and comments.

  • Assist in the creation of visual assets such as graphics, photos, and videos.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience with content creation and social media platforms

  • Familiarity with social media management tools

  • Strong leadership skills

  • Basic knowledge of graphic design software such as Canva or Figma is a plus

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Duration:

  • Part-time work, expected to dedicate 8 to 10 hours each week

Compensation:

  • This is an unpaid opportunity. We are currently volunteer staff. However, depending on the success of Beacon’s social media campaign and flexibility in funding by end-of-year, a modest stipend may be available.

Location:

  • This position is remote, with occasional in-person meetings or events that the entire team is invited to attend if they wish
